Boost your focus and get more done with the 25-minute productivity technique.
A Pomodoro Timer is a specialized productivity tool built around the famous "Pomodoro Technique." This time management system forces you to break your work or study sessions into highly focused, distraction-free intervals (traditionally 25 minutes long), separated by short breaks (5 minutes).
The human brain struggles to maintain absolute focus on a single task for hours on end without burning out. By gamifying your work schedule into a series of "sprints" (Pomodoros), you train your brain to ignore distractions. Knowing you only have to focus for 25 minutes makes procrastination much easier to overcome.
Can I leave the tab open in the background?
Yes! Our timer uses JavaScript intervals that will continue ticking even if you open a different tab to do your work. The current remaining time will dynamically update in the browser tab title so you can always see it at a glance.
Do I have to do exactly 25 minutes?
While 25 minutes is the standard set by the creator (Francesco Cirillo), you should find what works for you. Some programmers prefer a "50/10" split (50 minutes focus, 10 minutes break) because their tasks require longer periods of deep thought.
Will the timer ring an alarm?
Yes, when the countdown reaches 00:00, a short beep will play to notify you. Please ensure your device volume is turned up and you haven't muted the browser tab.
